I've released Panels 2 Alpha 8.

This new release introduces Mini Panels and Panel styles for them. In the next release Panel pages and Panel nodes will also be able to support panel styles and Panels will come with a couple of simple ones, but for now, there are 2 out there that exist:

Carousel style and
Tabs style.

What does this do? See for yourself.

Panels handbook?

I've just started messing with Panels and decided to start with Panels 2 but there's very little documentation. Can you recommend some good handbooks or tutorials for learning panels?

My biggest problem so far is that when I choose the two column stacked format (or any columnar format) the output doesn't align in columns. It is stacked above and below. Does Panels require the user to write their own custom CSS code?

What am I missing here?

Very Impressive

This will let us create very sophisticated layouts very easily. If yor ever in Minneapolis/St. Paul look me up and I'll buy you a beer.

Yay!

Glad to hear that you have decided to add Panel Styles support to Panel pages and Panel nodes after all! But that raises another problem. As you know, Panel Styles currently apply to all panels inside some Panels implementation. That means that all 3 columns of the 3 column layout would get tabs, for example. IMHO it would be great to let you override the style per panel. I'm sure it would avoid a lot of support requests of the type "I don't want the middle column to have tabs, how do I do this?".

Tutuorials ?

I'm also a newbie to the subject. If anyone could recommend a good book or website for this subject I would be very helpfull. I know that I can do sophisticated layouts with them but I also have problems with columns. Maybe I should refresh my CSS knowledge first. =)

why did you earase me?

i just followed peter harders posting and ask for a good book for css......is this forbidden????

2 reasons

1) Your URL leads to a gambling site and gambling sites are often spam sites trying to build up rating. I monitor posts for that kind of thing.

2) This post is an announcement of a software release. It's not an appropriate place to ask questions about anything other than that piece of software; and asking questions about that piece of software should go into the issue queue for it on drupal.org.
