I'm looking for someone with solid CSS skills and good photoshop skills and a strong understanding of modular design to help fix and create more style bases for Panels Stylizer. If you haven't seen it, the Stylizer lets you create re-usable styles for your panel panes and regions directly in the UI. Behind the scenes it will do image recoloring and slicing to get exactly what it needs, and cache those images in the files directory so they can be used. Right now I ship with a usable but not exactly perfectly rounded shadow box. I'd love to have a few more base styles to choose from so that users can have more than just one rounded corners to pick from. There are quite a few possibilities of fairly generic boxes to start with.

What the rounded shadow boxes does is that it starts with two images. The first is just a simple rounded box, which the color is then applied to. This image is then merged with the partially transparent shadow. Then 8 images are sliced out of the box (4 corners, 4 sides) and the CSS to put all of this together is generated. All of these are then stored in a cache. (The cache is safe; if the images are not there, they'll be regenerated on the fly).

If you're interested in helping, find me on IRC and I can walk you through the scripts stylizer uses. Anyone willing to create one of this is going to have to have a basic understanding of how you manipulate the images to create this stuff, as my grasp of that isn't really strong enough to be able to explain it.

awesomeness!

whoa, that sounds pretty awesome, I definitely have to check this out.
If not to help create bases, it'll be to use them :P

rock on!

I'll help! You're just not

I'll help! You're just not on IRC right now and I'm afraid I'll forget if I don't say something. ;)

Panels 3.7

Just learned the whole Panels 3.7 interface from scratch yesterday (at first it was hard removing blocks and Skinr). With fluid frames (using Prosper) and panels the whole screen is now one giant canvas to paint with blocks, nodes and views. Love the new flexibility. Still have to tap the contexts & relationships. Also need to see about custom CSS code per element, but that will take a bit more work. It may be a little confusing at first until you translate the vernacular (Misc = Blocks), but I think the flow is really intuitive.

I will be making and testing new presets for Stylizer for sure. The interface is so simple and easy to apply on new panels. It's really a game changer for getting out of the "box" design-wise. Great job. The only thing I cannot get to work is the rounded corner shadow style in IE8. It looks great in Firefox and Chrome though. Great work Merlin. Thank you.

Issue with IE7/8

Hi and thanks for your great work on Panels

Just one thing: are u aware that there is currently an unsolved issue about a IE7/8 problem with Panel stylizer ? (http://drupal.org/node/862558) ?

I think u're the only one who can help on this...

If u have 2 minutes to have a look on this, it will be very helpful for me and some others users...
